Dolobox Television Initiative (DTI)

Although youth are the great targets of every marketer and media producer around, far too little available on online and traditional media actually reflects our realities or helps young people become informed about the issues that matter. But we’re going to change that.

The Dolobox Television Initiative is a network of youth getting our voices out in the world. Youth participants, all aged 16 to 25 (and all with factors in their lives that mean they are considered ‘at-risk’ of challenges like delinquency and poor educational achievement), conceive, plan and develop projects that get youth heard. We make the news, we offer informed views, and we make sure that programming available to youth is also programming that matters to us. What a concept.

DTI projects include:

  • youth citizen journalism, exposing and analyzing the issues that matter to youth,
  • a dramatic television series that exposes real life issues facing at-risk youth in Toronto
  • and other projects.
  • Youth participants get in front of the camera through acting and interviewing. And we are busy behind the scenes as producers, directors, film-makers and editors.
